Mary Wilcox

Mary Teresa Wilcox, 96, formerly of Luke, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Allegany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cumberland, where she had been a resident.

Born April 17, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Pantaleo and Maria (Garafoli) Mazzone.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth “Tubby” Wilcox, two sisters, Isabelle Cangianelli and Anna “Nina” Warnick, two brothers, Raphael Mazzone and Anthony Mazzone, and a great granddaughter, Rachel Nelson.

Mary was a homemaker.  She was an avid reader and also enjoyed being with her grandchildren as they were growing up.  She loved and was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, where she was faithful attending daily mass.

She leaves behind two daughters, Mary Ann Green and husband Ed of BelAir, Helen Nelson and husband Dr. Joseph of LaVale, a sister, Julia Codire of Piedmont, WV, and four grandchildren, Brady Green and wife Nancy, Lt. Col. Kenneth Nelson MD and wife Marsha, Christopher Nelson and wife Melissa, and Ryan Nelson and wife Nancy.  She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, Keller Green, Ryan Green, Joseph Nelson, Ellena Nelson, Thomas Nelson, Ryleigh Nelson, Violet Nelson, William Nelson, Estella Nelson, Elijah Nelson, Michael Nelson, and Leah Nelson.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, January 14th from 5 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, on Friday, January 15th at 11:00 AM, with Father Edward Hendricks as celebrant.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
