Mary Metz

Mary Ellen Skidmore Nichols Metz, 84, of Fairmont, formerly of Barton, MD, quietly passed away to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2017.

Mary was born on January 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Albert Dewey and Hazel (Dawson) Skidmore.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Chester W. Metz, a son, Richard Metz, brothers, Ellsworth, Francis and Pat Skidmore and sisters, Ethel Broadwater, Dolores Broadwater, Betty Unger and Jennie Wood.

She is survived by a brother, Stanley Skidmore, a son, David Metz, and daughters, Sally Stanton, Linda Brummage, Linda Bratten and Patty Kyle and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends too numerous to count.

Mary was a happy and loving Christian women.  She loved everyone and everyone loved her.  She was happiest when she was helping someone.

She belonged to several organizations.  She volunteered on a regular basis for the Salvation Army, and was a member of the WV Professional Business Womens Club.  She was also a Red Hatter.

Mary is being returned to Barton, MD for Christian burial.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, MD on Thursday, February 2nd from 3 to 7 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Friday, February 3rd at 1:00 PM, with Rev. George Loar officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Barton, MD.

There will be a memorial service in Fairmont on Saturday, February 18th at Faith Church International at 1:00 PM.
