Margaret Christine Bennett, 91, formerly of 20403 Maurice Lane, Westernport and most recently of Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, MD, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at the nursing center.

Born August 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Lewis Kooken and Edna Belle (Ours) Kooken.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Maurice Bennett, brothers; Edward, Charles and Kenneth Kooken, sister, June Hopkins, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.  She was the last survivor of her immediate family.

Throughout her long life Christine had many interests. She enjoyed fishing, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, embroidering, quilting, sewing, baking and cooking for her family. She made wonderful homemade bread and her Sunday dinners were always a treat. She shared many wonderful times with her sister and her brother-in-law, June and Harry Hopkins at both of their homes and the Ruritan Club in Springfield, WV, where she became a member. She helped with a number of dinners at the Ruritan Club where she also played many games of bingo and made a lot of great friends.

She leaves behind her seven sons: Richard & wife Shirley, Keyser; Roger & wife Virginia, Westernport; Donald & wife Patricia, Westernport; Gene & wife Clara, Westernport; David & wife Ginny, Lonaconing; Harry & wife Mary Beth, Barton and Steve & wife Tara, Frostburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lisa Chalfant, Jeff Bennett, Sherrie Bennett & fiancé Doug, Lori Beeman & husband Terry, Kenny Bennett & wife Sharon, Tracy Smith & husband Billy, Debra Bennett, Pam Bennett, Jeannie Miller & husband Troy, Connie Adkins & husband Bernie, Mike Bennett & wife Michele, Aaron Bennett & wife Tracy, Blair Bennett, Brian Bennett & wife Susan, Jason Bennett, Lauren Bennett & fiancé Tim, Joshua Bennett, Jeremiah Bennett and Ben Sivits. In addition, she is survived by twenty great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, February 9th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, on Friday, February 10th at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Walt Lancaster officiating.

Interment will be in Sinclair Memorial Park, Cross WV.
