Lora Ann “Bill” Fahey, 88, of Maryland Avenue, Westernport was called home by her maker on March 12, 2014 where she was a patient at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. At the time of her death, she was reunited in heaven with her husband Tom, who passed away in February 2012.
Born May 23, 1925 in Covington, VA, she was the youngest daughter of the late Lyman E. “Red” and Grace P. Wortman (1978 and 1985). She is also preceded in death by her husband Tom Fahey (2012), and her sisters, Marian Daniels and Rena Magruder.
She grew up in Luke and attended the Luke School and graduated from Bruce High School in 1943. She worked in the “black ash” at the Luke Paper Mill for a number of years. She and Tom were married on August 8, 1947, they had 65 wonderful years together. Bill was an avid bowler in the 10-pin and Duck-pin leagues. She was a member of the Victory Post 155 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked numerous years at the flower shops in Piedmont, WV, and she spent over 20 years as a Red Cross volunteer on the Blood Mobile.
She is survived by her son, Terry Fahey and wife Kathy of Macon, GA; granddaughters, Bethany Fahey of Macon, GA and Ashley Thomas and husband Dusty, and great grandsons, Griffin and Weylin Thomas, all of Folkston, GA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
“Bill” was so lucky and thankful to have so many close friends and neighbors that she cared about dearly.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service and committal service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. William Shimer officiating.
“Bill’s” final resting place will be with her husband, Tom at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
