Linda Lee (Murphy) Lee, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Country House.
She was born June 13, 1942 in Westernport to the late William J. and Audrey E. (Morgan) Murphy.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, William J. Murphy, Jr.
Linda was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Westernport, where she also attended St Peter Catholic School. At Divine Mercy Parish - St Peter she also served on the bereavement committee as well as participated in the weekly Bible study group with many of her wonderful lifelong friends. Linda was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Linda retired from Mead-Westvaco in 2004 after having worked for 26 years in the Distribution and Transportation Departments.
Linda was a devoted wife and mother who cherished spending time with her family. Linda loved to “go” and could be ready in a moments notice for shopping and luncheon dates. Linda loved traveling, especially her beach vacations, taking care of her home, spending time in her backyard gazebo/pool, tending her flowers and hosting many family picnics.
Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Russell M. Lee; her children, Sharon K. Isbell and husband, Steve, Russell “Buck” W. Lee and wife, Cathie, Karen M. Metcalfe and husband, Chris, Michael K. Lee and wife, Cindi, Linda Nelson and husband, Mark and Lisa Y. Hutton and husband, Bob. Linda was lovingly known as “Mema” to her grandchildren; Russell “Scott” Lee, Lacey Lee, Ashley Meyers and husband, Matt, Hunter Metcalfe, Jessica McLaughlin and husband, Josh, Michael Lee II, Marcus McGinnis, Danielle McGinnis, Jonathan Nelson, Bobby Hutton and wife, Megan, Bryan Hutton and wife, Megan and Sarah Larson and husband, Nic. Linda is also survived by her great grandchildren, Elijah McLaughlin, Adley Miller, Everett Hutton, Hoyt Hutton and two great-grandsons soon to be delivered this fall; her sisters, Susan Beeman and husband, George and Diane Davis and husband, Bob; numerous nieces and nephews and very special friend, Patsy Kenealy.
Linda’s family is especially grateful for the kind, compassionate and loving care that was provided to her over the years by Dr. M. Amir. A heartfelt thank you also to special caregivers Anita Lupton and Kristi Williams while Linda was still in her home and the very caring staff of Garrett and Allegany County Hospice services. No words can express the gratitude to the staff of Country House for their above and beyond compassionate care given to Linda (and family) in the final weeks of her life.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 23rd at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 24th at 11 am at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Peter Catholic Church, Westernport with Bishop Adam Parker as celebrant.
Interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Westernport.
Pallbearers will be Linda’s beloved grandsons.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Peter Bereavement Committee.
