Krista Kim (Kyle) Gattens, 67, of Lonaconing, passed away on September 22, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born January 1, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Betty Jo (Clark) Kyle. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Gattens.
Kim was a 1972 graduate of Valley High School. She worked in medical billing at several different offices but most recently at Egle Nursing Center. Kim loved the holidays and would enjoy cooking meals for her family, they enjoyed being her taste testers. She was known and loved for her creative crafting abilities. Kim deeply loved her family, the grandchildren kept her going. Kim was a strong woman who battled cancer for 17 years. She never gave up the fight and was a solid rock through it all. Kim is loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Kim is survived by her loving husband, Fred Gattens; her children, Butch Gattens and wife, Katie of Ridgeley, WV Sarah Llewellyn and husband Reese of Westernport; and her grandchildren, Owen Llewellyn, Elizabeth Gattens and Abigail Gattens. Kim is also survived by her siblings, Cary Kyle and wife, Sue of Keyser, WV Holly Kyle of Barton, and Donna Churchill and husband, JB of Pasadena.
Kim’s family would like to thank everyone that was involved in the excellent care given to her, they are grateful for the oncology staff at the Schwab Family Cancer Center.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Saturday, September 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the Barton United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 26th at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Wearing a mask and social distancing is encouraged.
