Kenneth Ray Johnston, 76, formerly of Westernport, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Rest Assured Assisted Living Center, Meyersdale, PA, where he had been a resident.

Born May 13, 1941 in Westernport, he was the son of the late John Albert Johnston Sr. and the late Hazel Ellen (Miller) Johnston.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Shaffer and Evelyn Johnston.

Kenny was a 1959 graduate of Bruce High School.  He retired from Acme Market, White Oaks Shopping Center, Cumberland, having been produce manager.  He was formerly a Sunday School Teacher, and a long-time member of Tri-Towns Fire Company #1, Piedmont, WV, having been 2nd chief and also known as “The Hook”.

He leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer Sentelle and husband Eddie of Fort Ashby, WV, two brothers, John A. Johnston and wife Bess of Westernport, Paul Allen Johnston Sr., of Keyser, WV, two sisters, Mary Eloise Foley of Grantsville, and Lois Ellen Marks of Kalamazoo, MI.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Haley Johnson, Ralin Pierce, Kayla Sentelle, Faith Sentelle, and Paige Sentelle and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday, August 1st from 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, August 2nd at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Carl Cowan officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Ark of Hope Animal Rescue in Oldtown.
