Kenneth “Butsy” Hartman, 87, of Maryland Ave, Westernport, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born February 2, 1924, he was the son of the late David and Clara (Kerns) Hartman.  He was also preceded in death by a brother and wife Robert and Anna Hartman and a brother, Lindy Hartman, sisters and husbands, Catherine and Donald McKenzie and Betty and John Riska, and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Ream.

“Butsy” was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.  He worked at the Celanese, drove a taxi for a number of years, and owned and operated The Corner Cue pool hall before having to retire with COPD.  He was also an avid horse racing fan.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Sara Hartman, two daughters, Bridget Wharton and husband Todd of Rawlings, Donna Hartman and longtime companion Keith Lewis of Westernport, grandchildren, Cory, Cody and Chrissy Wharton.  He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Moore and husband Robert of Keyser, WV, brother-in-laws, Edward Murphy and wife Maxine of Keyser, WV, Harland “Bruce” Ream of Oakland and several nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Hartman’s request, there will be no visitation, and a private family funeral service will be held.

Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Westernport.
