Karen Ethel Preston, 65, of Mill Run went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Keyser, WV surrounded by her family.

Karen was born in Mill Run near Westernport on March 18, 1947.  She was the daughter of R. Kathleen (Kidwell) DeShong and the late Harry N. DeShong.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Eddy DeShong.

She attended Valley High School. Karen was a substitute bus driver at Child Development in Midland, MD. She was a loving wife, mother, NanNan and great-NanNan who poured her heart and soul into each member of her family.  Holidays and Sundays were her favorites because she looked forward in preparing large meals for her entire family.   Karen was a devoted Christian woman that lived her life to the fullest.  She was a member of Mill Run Grace Brethren Church where she had previously been a Sunday School teacher; and she was a dedicated prayer warrior.

Surviving besides her mother is her husband of 48 years, Johnnie M. Preston, Sr; two daughters, Sherry K. Bittinger and husband Dave, Rawlings; Lynn M. Smith and husband Ernie, New Creek, WV; one son, Johnnie M. Preston, Jr. and wife Lisa, Clearville, PA; 6 grandchildren, Tasha L. McIntyre and husband Jason; Cara M. Bittinger, Sarah L. Smith, Ryan J. Smith, Christian Amtower, and Jenna Amtower and 2 great grandbabies Madyson E. McIntyre and Camden D. McIntyre.  She was also survived by her sister, Sharon Moore, Barton; brother, Gary DeShong, Westernport; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and from 7 to 9 PM.

Services will be conducted at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Rev. George Loar and Pastor Earl Trimble officiating.

Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale MD.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Heartland of Keyser Rehab unit, Keyser, WV for the outstanding care and devotion shown to our loved one.
