June L. Symons Clark, 97 of Barton passed away at Egle Nursing and Rehab, Lonaconing, MD on July 17, 2023. Born in Barton June 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Delma Mae (Barnes) Symons and Nina (Mongold) Symons.

 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband William J. Clark, and an infant son. Her brothers Elwood (Woody) Symons, Tom Symons, Bill Mongold, Dave Mongold, and Joe Mongold. Sisters Norma Jean Metz, Shirley “Cookie” (Mongold) Broadwater, Brothers-in-law Luther Metz, James Clark ll, Bernard Miltenberger, Frank Tulley, Donald Clark, Vincent Clark, Marshall Clark and Godfrey Clark, Sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Libby) Symons, Eva Tulley, Ethel Miltenberger, Betty Clark, and Jane Clark.

 

June was a graduate of Barton High School, Class of 1944 and a member of the Barton Alumni Association. She was also a member of Divine Mercy Parish/ST. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and Barton American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as a Postal Clerk for 26 years serving Barton, and Lonaconing Post offices, as well as filling in at Midland, Shaft, and Keyser. She also worked with the Girl Scouts Troop 50960 where she enjoyed camping at New Germany.

 

She loved her family more than anything. She loved camping at “the river” in Slanesville, WV and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved reminiscing about the past, enlightening her family with very interesting stories.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Lea Miller (Tom) Barton/ Hagerstown and Krista Ann McKenzie (Jim) Lakewood, WV. Five grandchildren, April Lynne (Miller) Tan (Dr. Rojack Tan) Rockville, MD, Paula Rene’ Miller- Knipple, Hagerstown, MD, Corey Edward McKenzie (Amanda), Halethrope, MD, Ryan William McKenzie (Tara) Wilmington, DE and Bradley James McKenzie (Lauren), Cross Junction, VA. Great-grandchildren, Jackson and Josie McKenzie, Madeline and Meghan Tan, Ethan, Chloe and Eli Knipple, Anna and Vivian McKenzie, and Jade and Avery McKenzie. Also surviving are brothers and sisters Jack Mongold (Zennia), Barton, Charles Symons (Rebecca) Frostburg, James Symons (Dana), Westernport, and Richard Mongold (Janet) Short Gap, WV and sisters, Nancy Crowe (Ivan), Barton, Diana Grady (Rob) Westernport and Kay Clark, Westernport.

 

Special thanks to Nancy and Ivan Crowe, who were her part-time caregivers in the last two years and to the Egle Nursing and Rehab Staff for the compassionate care given to her. She also had many caring nieces and nephews who visited her on a regular weekly basis.

 

Friends will be received Friday, July 21 from 5-8 p.m. at the Boal Funeral Home Chapel, Barton, Maryland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St Gabriel Catholic Church, Father Eric Gauchat O.F.M.Cap., Celebrant. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, MD.
