Judy Lancaster Fogle

September 12, 1943 — July 15, 2025

Lonaconing, Maryland

Judy Lancaster Fogle of Lonaconing passed away on July 15, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W. Va.

Born September 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Laura and Wilbur Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by her brother Gerald “Jerry” Lancaster.

A lifelong kindergarten teacher at Westernport Elementary School, Judy was devoted to all of the students who passed through her classroom. Wherever she went, her former students would come up to hug her. She remembered all of her students, following them through their lives and often clipping newspaper articles to send to them. She took her students on many field trips during the school year, including regular trips to the Westernport Fire Department, which made her an Honorary Fireman.

Judy was devoted to her community and the First Presbyterian Church of Lonaconing. She taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir as a teenager and was a longtime member of Miriam’s Circle.

She was known for her many acts of kindness to family, friends and strangers alike. She would visit community members who were hospitalized or at home alone. She sent cards to people just to let them know she was thinking of them. She donated to charities abroad and at home, and shopped year-round to make the holidays special for everyone she knew. Judy also loved her many dogs over the years, Fritze, Meggie, Heather, Abby, Mollie, Maggie, Annie and Lucy.

Her greatest joy was her six grandchildren – caring for them when needed, watching their school and sporting events, and having tea parties with them when they were little.

Judy's love and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family, former students, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John L. Fogle, and her four children and their spouses, Amanda Conn (David Conn), Laura De Kee (Dan De Kee), John B. Fogle (Emily Fogle) and Kirk Fogle (Ai Fen Fogle). She is survived by her six grandchildren, Emma Lancaster Conn, Noa Elinor Conn, Janet Harley Fogle, Kate Lillian Fogle, Violette Alta Joy Fogle, and Jasper John Fogle.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel in Barton on Sunday, July 20th from 2 to 5 p.m.

A funeral service will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Lonaconing on 1 East Main Street, Lonaconing, MD on Monday, July 21st at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Morgan officiating.

Donations in Judy’s name may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Lonaconing for their food bank or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/ or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
