Judith Ann Gowans, 86 of Barton passed away on March 23, 2026.
Born January 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Thelma (Taylor) Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Foutz and his wife Renae Foutz.
Judy once worked at the Celanese, the sewing factory, Powells Grocery and lastly as a cafeteria staff member at Westmar High School. Judy found joy in quilting woodworking, and caring for her flowers. She was a talented cook who loved to share her meals with her family and others. Judy enjoyed painting, and many said her work reflected the style of Bob Ross.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of almost 58 years, James Gowans; and her daughters, Tracy Foutz of Lonaconing, Tori Dolly and husband Andy of Westernport, and Tara Smith and husband Chris of Moscow. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keeley Smith and husband Bret of Avilton, and Ian Smith of Moscow; great grandson, Zachary Foutz of Lonaconing; brother, Bob Taylor and wife JoAnn of Bruceton Mills, WV; sister, Brenda Alexander and husband Ronnie of Keyser, WV; special cousins, Carolyn Phillips and Pam Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Egle Nursing Center for their excellent care and compassion shown to Judy the last two years.
Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated and no formal services will take place.
