Joseph E. Schramm, 90, of Rawlings and originally from Barton passed away on April 6, 2026.
Born December 25, 1935, he was the son of the late William McKinley Schramm and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Brown) Schramm. Joe was the last remaining member of his immediate family. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn (Wilson) Schramm in 1997; his five brothers, Roy, Billy, Dimps, Hook, and Kenny; his four sisters, Mary, June, Anna, and Emma; a grandson James Costilow; and his sons-in-law, Mike Kyle and John Costilow.
Joe retired from Westvaco in 1997 after 43 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed deer, squirrel, and mushroom hunting in his earlier years. He found joy in feeding the birds that visited his yard. Joe enjoyed listening to the radio, tuning in to old country classics on Willie’s Roadhouse and keeping up with the Mountain Ridge Football team. Joe liked to go to Allegany College basketball games, Swaugers, and family gatherings were his happy place. Joe’s family was what kept him going. He loved and worried about each of them, and faithfully prayed for them every day.
Joe attended the First Presbyterian Church of Barton and greatly missed being unable to attend in recent years. He and Regina remained devoted to their faith, regularly watching their church programs on television. Joe was well-prepared to meet the good Lord! May he continue to watch over his family until they meet again.
Joe’s family is forever grateful and blessed for a lifetime of memories they made together through the years. “See you in the funny pages”- “Don’t spend any wooden nickels”- “Toodaloo” – YOU ARE FINALLY HOME!
Joe is survived by his wife of 22 years, Regina (Hayes) Schramm; his six daughters, Joanna Combs, Karen (Ralph) Ritchie, Sue (Pat) Duty, Tammy Barnes, Tina (Troy) Colmer, and Heidi Costilow. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Joe, Donnie, Cheryl, Jeannie, Stephen, Moriah, Troy, Daphne, Daniel, Michael, Jessica; sixteen great grandchildren, Justice, Iveigh, Dallas, Bryson, Emily, Ryleigh, Carleigh, Jennings, Jovie, Oliver, Hendrix, Dalton, Bailey, Everson, Maddox, and Rainey; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Friends will be received at the First Presbyterian Church of Barton on Friday, April 10th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Morgan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Barton.
Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Barton.
