Joseph Leasure

Joseph E. “Joe” Leasure, 59 of Hammond Street, Westernport passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 at his home.

Born May 14, 1963 in Cumberland, he was the son of Russell E. and Maxine E. (Sherman) Leasure of North Augusta, SC and formerly of Westernport. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen L. (Walter) Leasure.

Joe was a 1980 graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport and the Allegany County Vo-Tech, Cresaptown. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, Westernport and The Sons of the American Legion.

Joey, as he was affectionally known by his family, was always thinking of everyone but himself. Even though he was physically limited, his care for others was evident.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his two sisters, Lori (Leasure) Riley and husband, Fred of Antioch, WV, and Carin Leasure of Savannah, GA; and four nieces, Chelsie (Hamilton) Bell and husband, Justin of Fort Worth, TX, Linae Riley of Antioch, WV, Stefani Thompson and Quintin Gooing of Corvallis, OR and Elina Riley of Antioch, WV. He is also survived by two great nephews, Brayden Amtower and Wyatt Wigfield of Antioch, WV; one great niece on the way of Fort Worth, TX and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public services. Memorial donations may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at jdrf.org.
