Joseph Diaz

Joseph James Diaz, 96, of Pratt Street, Luke, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born on August 23, 1917 in Luke, he was the son of the late Alfredo and Josephine (Alvarez) Diaz. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Manuel Diaz, Avelino Diaz, Louis Diaz and Helen Mazzone.

Mr. Diaz was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran, having served during WWII. He had retired from Westvaco where he worked as a belt foreman. He was a member of the Tri-Towns Lions Club where he held various officer positions, and he was awarded Lion of the Year twice. Mr. Diaz was also a member of the Victory Post 155, Westernport.

Mr. Diaz is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 am with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.

Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Westernport.
