John "Ed" Fazenbaker

John Edison “Ed” Fazenbaker, 93, of Lonaconing went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 10, 2017 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born January 29, 1924 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Sarah R. “Dolly” (Metz) Fazenbaker. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Rae (Loar) Fazenbaker on July 3, 2014. Ed is preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred “Mid” Whitefield, Adeline Shockey, Viola “Babe” Bradley and Olive “Toots” Foote. Ed is the last surviving member of his family.

Ed was a faithful member of Bethel Holiness Church, where he served his Lord as a Deacon and song leader for many years. He and Ella Rae served as faithful stewards of God’s house, keeping it clean and ready for services for many years. Ed was employed by the Celanese Corporation, having worked in the spinning department until its closing.

Ed is survived by his two sons, Gary Fazenbaker and his wife, Mary of Westernport and Robert Fazenbaker and his wife, Connie of Lonaconing, with whom Ed resided. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lisa Stafford (Henry) of Warrenton, VA, Chanda Fazenbaker of Barton, Ryan Fazenbaker of Barton, Joshua Fazenbaker (Stacy) of Gettysburg, PA; and his great grandchildren, Emily, Sydney, Kendal, Maddi, Sophie, Gwendolyn, Ava, Harley and Brielle. Ed is survived by a sister-in-law, Esther Wiland (Melvin) of Lonaconing, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday, October 12th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13th at 1:00 pm at the Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing with Rev. David Schoch officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing.
