John Groden

Barton, MD

John William Groden, 74 of Barton, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born June 8, 1944, he was the son of the late William E. and Bertha E. Groden. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee “Cookie” Groden.

John was a retired master electrician, he was a member of the IBEW.

He is survived by his two sons, Richie Wiltison of Barton, Jamie Wiltison of Keyser, WV and his two daughters, Leigh Ann Steele and husband Terry of Cumberland and Amy Smeltzer of Frostburg.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Miranda Wiltison, Abbigail Munday, Meredith Munday, Liam Munday, Joseph Steele; a great granddaughter, Adalynn Crabtree; his best friend, Scott Miller and his cats, Ralph and Eli.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday, January 22nd from 7 to 9 pm.

There will be no funeral service.  A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
