John Frank Daniels, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Danny” and “Junior,” passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home in Westernport on May 30, 2025, at the age of 99.

Born January 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Jacob Benjamin Franklin Daniels and Flossie Susan (Ours) Daniels. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nina Louise (Ferguson) Daniels; and his siblings, Foster Daniels, Charles Daniels, Doris Daddysman, Bernadine Frances, Wilma Frances and Jeanette Daniels.

John was a proud WWII United States Army Veteran and combat medic. He was a faithful member of the Westernport United Methodist Church. John retired from Westvaco after 44 years of employment, where he was a supervisor of the 8 and 9 paper roll department. John and his late wife, Nina resided on the South Fork in Moorefield, WV for many years before returning to Westernport to reside.

John showed a lifelong commitment to service through various roles, including membership in the Moran Manor Auxiliary, a life member of the Westernport Heritage Society and he held the position of Past President of the Moorefield Lions Club. His commitment to service extended beyond leadership roles, as he volunteered at the Summer Lunch Program at St. James Episcopal Church, assisted in bakes sales and candy-making at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont, and he actively supported the Tri-Towns Food Pantry. Additionally, he contributed his time to stuffing envelopes for the Burlington Children’s Home annual fund drive. John was one of the founding members of the Tom Ridge Hunting Club.

John enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, deer, and squirrels in his yard. He was always on the lookout for the local groundhog that frequented his property. John will not only be remembered for his many contributions to his community and country, but also his warm heart and kind demeanor.
