Joanna Agnes Hutchinson, 81, formerly of East Hampshire St, Piedmont, and most recently of Dawn View Manor Nursing Center, Fort Ashby, passed away Monday December 23, 2013 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.
Born January 8, 1932 in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Frank Farren Davis and Agnes (McDowell) Davis.
Joanna was a 1949 graduate of Piedmont High School. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, MD. In her earlier years she was and active volunteer at Tri-Towns Teen Town, Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, the St. Peters School P.T.A., and St. Peters School. She also helped faithfully with the St. Peters Parish annual dinner. Joanna overcame many health problems and obstacles during her life. She loved dancing and she left an impression on everyone she met. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves behind her husband, Thomas A. “Artie” Hutchinson of Keyser, two daughters, Barbara Lepley and husband John of Westernport, MD, Cathy Nestor and husband Greg of Keyser, one son, Thomas A. “Artie” Hutchinson Jr. and wife Saprina of Hagerstown, MD, seven grandchildren, Amy Smith and husband John, Jason Lepley and wife Salina, Cory Gray and husband Seth, Christy McCoy and husband Andy, J. Adam Plum and wife Lisa, Michael Hutchinson and Holli Hutchinson. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Devin and Kristen Smith, Alexandra and Justin Lepley, Brady and Bryllee Gray, Laci, Taylor, and Avery McCoy, and Kaydon Hutchinson, three step grandchildren, Roger Nestor, Lexi Marsh and Lacy Davis, and two step great grandchildren, Jasmine Lease and Alec Pulliam.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, on Thursday, December 26th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, MD, on Friday, December 27th at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at both Dawn View Manor Nursing Center and High Level Care of Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Joanna during her stays there.
