Joan Browning

Bloomington, MD

Joan Martin Browning, age 83, of Bloomington, Maryland, passed away December 27, 2016.  Born in Nitro, WV on December 21, 1933, she was a twin daughter born to Robert S. and Mary Elizabeth (Bird) Martin.            She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Browning, married 59 years.

Survived by her son, Rich Browning and his wife Kathy of Oakland, MD; daughters, Jeannie Duckworth and her husband Carl of Westernport, MD, Deborah Reynolds of North Port, FL, Jennifer Dellinger and her husband Bruce of Bloomington, MD, and Janna Konke and her husband Jim of Venice, FL; one brother, John Martin (her twin) of Nitro, WV; two sisters, Martha Esman of Keyser, WV and Harriet Grady of Gahanna, OH; Eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.

Joan lived a wonderful life dedicated to her large family and many friends.  After marrying John, she lived in Oakland, MD and Westernport, MD. She moved to Nokomis, FL in 1976 when John retired. Joan started her working career in her mid-fifties and continued to work until she retired from Sears at seventy-seven years old.  When John died she decided to move back to Maryland after living in Florida for 35 years.  She will always be remembered for her pleasant demeanor, beautiful smile, and her sense of style.

Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. before the Memorial Service held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont, WV on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to, Burlington United Methodist Family Services, 539 New Creek Hwy, Keyser, WV 26726.
