Joan Louise Biggs passed away on November 28, 2017. She was a resident of Charlotte Hall Veteran’s Home. Joan was born in Piedmont, WV on May 7, 1932 to Calvin Stickley Lambert and Edith Virginia (Adams) Lambert. She graduated from Piedmont High School and received an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Potomac State in Keyser, WV. Joan married Charles David “Bub” Biggs on June 30, 1953 in Piedmont, WV after he was drafted into the Army. She worked for the C&P Telephone Company while Bub served in Korea. After the war they settled in New Carrollton, MD where Joan was a homemaker and then a receptionist for the law firm Horowitz and Foran. She and Bub retired in 1996 to Westernport, MD.

Joan was predeceased by her parents and brother, David Lambert of East Kingston, NH. In addition to Bub of Charlotte Hall, MD, she is survived by her sister Christa Cheshire (Gary) of Westernport, MD, her sisters-in-law Barbara Lambert, East Kingston, NH, Mary Biggs and Sarah Biggs of Cumberland MD, Verna Biggs, Severna Park, MD, and Dorothy Biggs, Westernport, MD; her children Charles Biggs (Laura), Chesapeake Beach, MD, Carol Shoemaker (Leland) Huntingtown, MD, and Patricia Miller of Frederick, MD. She also leaves behind four granddaughters Kayleigh Shoemaker, Nashville TN, Emileigh Shoemaker, Huntingtown, MD, Natalie Miller and Deanna Miller, Frederick, MD, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, December 2nd from 11 AM to 1 PM.  A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation on Saturday at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Steve Grimes officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity United Methodist Church, 34 Jones Street, Piedmont, WV 26750.
