Jerry "Pete" Shillingburg

Jerry Lee “Pete” Shillingburg, 49, owner of Pete’s Hardwood Floors, from Rawlings, born August 2, 1965, son of Jim and the late Jenny Shillingburg of Rawlings was called home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2015. Pete passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer at his home with his wife and family by his side.
Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Jenny Shillingburg and his brother and best friend, Tom Shillingburg. As well as his grandparents, Joseph and Angela Shillingburg and Pete and Billie Irene Armentrout.
Survived by his father, James “Jim” Thomas Shillingburg of Rawlings; his wife of 24 years, Jan Marie (Christenopher) Shillingburg of Rawlings; his sisters, Jodie Lynn Armentrout of Rawlings, Billie Jo Shillingburg and fiancé James Robertson of Keyser WV; his brother Rusty Shillingburg and wife Tara of Barton; and many nieces and nephews. Pete was also blessed to have some very special friends.
Pete was a 1985 graduate of Valley High School and Allegany County Vocational Center. Pete loved his family, fishing, hunting, working and his pets Lucy and Greta. He owned and operated his hardwood floor business for over 23 years. He will be missed in the business community where Pete is known for his great work ethic. Pete lived each day to the fullest. Pete was a kindhearted, loving, giving and gentle man who was there for all who needed him. He will be missed by all that have had the gift of knowing and loving him. He has now joined his heavenly father for eternal life. Until we join Pete again.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 am with Pastor Sherri Ziler officiating.
Interment will be at the Tichnell Cemetery at Chestnut Grove.
Pete will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers, Tim Martin, Jim Spiker, Steven Keckley, Mike Custer, Jamie Shillingburg, Blake Shillingburg, Brett Armentrout and James Robertson.
A special thanks for the wonderful care Pete received at the Western Maryland Cancer Center, his surgeon, Dr. Ashker and his staff and the entire Hospice team of nurses, as well as all the special cards, phone calls and visitors to Pete.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Schwab Cancer Center, Cumberland or the Animal Welfare Society, Cumberland.
