Jerome Daniel Laffey

Jerome Daniel Laffey, Jr., 76, of Westernport, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born April 25, 1948, a lifelong resident of Westernport, the son of late Jerome Laffey and Margaret (Laughlin) Laffey. 

Mr. Laffey was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, Westernport. Before retiring as Postmaster of Westernport, he worked for the U.S. Postal service for decades. After his retirement, he served as Mayor of the Town of Westernport and also as a member of the Allegany County Liquor Board.

Mr. Laffey was an avid Lionel Trains and PEZ collector. He enjoyed spending time with his family and telling stories with his friends.

He leaves behind his wife, Janice Laffey, four children, Mark Laffey and wife Jenifer, Gregory Laffey, Ashley Thuillier and husband Ross, and Kelly Laffey; his grandchildren, Alix Laffey, Phillip Laffey, Cierra Laffey, the late Jarrett Laffey, Atlas Thuillier, Becca Thuillier, Charlee Thuillier, Nick Joiner and Izzy Joiner. 

His wishes were to be cremated.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m.
