Jerome "Jerry" Clark

September 23, 1938 — May 21, 2026

Barton, Maryland

Jerome "Jerry" Clark, 87, passed away on May 21, 2026, at the Martinsburg VA Serenity House in Martinsburg, WV.

Born on September 23, 1938, in Keyser, WV, to Alma (Kelly) and James K. Clark. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Barton. He was a 1957 graduate of Valley High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as a pipefitter at the Celanese for 18 years. After the plant closed, Jerry worked as the Town Superintendent for Barton where he could be found cutting the grass, plowing snow, fixing the occasional broken water pipe, or other town maintenance until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth "Betty Jo" Kyle, an infant brother, Gordon, and his wife of 50 years, Sandra (McKenzie). Jerry leaves behind his sons Jefferson (Beth), Justin, his daughter Jamie, his special daughter Maria Stump (Jeff), his grandchildren, nieces and nephew. He was also a member of the Barton American Legion for many years.

Jerry was a master craftsman and artist. He and his small shop created many unique and one-of-a-kind pieces of wood art including furniture, jewelry boxes, bowls, and even a violin. He gifted many of these pieces to people that held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to thank the Latrobe St. community, especially the Russell family, for all of their support to Jerry. The family would also like to thank the Barton VFD, the Tri-towns ambulance crews, the staff at UPMC Western Maryland and at the VA in Martinsburg, WV for the tender care they provided to Jerry.

A celebration of life will be held at the Barton American Legion on June 7 from 1-4pm, with a private burial to be held at a later date.
