Hazel Harriett (Pritts) Farris, 93, of Elk Garden passed away July 17, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Farris was born on December 4, 1919 in Berlin, PA to the late Earl F. and L. Viola (Brant) Pritts. She is also preceded in death by her husband Paul M. Farris on July 1, 1984; two sisters, Vella Imhoff and Eva Myers; and four brothers, Harry, Van, Kenneth and Donald Pritts.
Mrs. Farris graduated from Elk Garden School in 1937. She continued her education at Potomac State College and West Virginia University, graduating with degrees in Home Economics, Physical Education, Biology and Health. She was a teacher at the Elk Garden School for 28 years, retiring in 1983. She loved her years of teaching, living on the family farm, growing plants and flowers, and spending time with family and friends. She had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Farris was a member of Shaw Methodist Church and Cross Methodist Church, where she taught Adult Sunday School classes for many years.

Mrs. Farris is survived by three daughters, Patricia E. Martin and husband Wayne of Mebane, NC, Linda L. Love and husband Douglas of Painesville, OH, and Suzanne M. Burdock and husband Jim of Elk Garden; and one son, Earl P. Farris and wife Diane of Keyser. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; Mylinda (Love) Balint of Michigan, Carolyn (Love) Remington of Ohio, Elizabeth (Martin) Kelchner of North Carolina, Eric Farris of Keyser, Sy Farris of Keyser, Greg Farris of Virginia, Cathy (Farris) Rabren of Virginia, Amy (Farris) Drvar of Morgantown, Jamie Burdock of Elk Garden, Michael Burdock of Elk Garden; one brother, Peter Pritts and wife Lorne Mae of New Creek; five sisters-in-law, Marie White, Marion Pritts and Carol Farris of Keyser, Ruth Carpenter of Westernport, and Excava Pritts of Elk Garden. She was blessed with 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Saturday, July 20th from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 21st at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kenny Mason officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

Mrs. Farris’ grandsons will be pallbearers.
