Harold Leroy Oates, 64, of Hammond St, Westernport, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born August 3, 1951 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Glenville and Dorothy (Duckworth) Oates.  He was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Gerald Oates.

Harold attended Bruce High School.  He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era, and was a former employee of Automated Packaging, Keyser, WV.  He was a former member and commander of Victory Post #155 Sons of the American Legion.  Harold also coached little league football, basketball, and baseball in the local area for many years.

He leaves behind his wife, Patty (Lyons) Oates, a son, Timothy Oates of Westernport, two brothers, William Oates and wife Linda of Keyser, WV, Steve Oates and wife Pam of Cumberland, a sister, Jane Montgomery and husband Jim of Antioch, WV, and two sisters-in-law, Sue Morris of Westernport and Susan Oates of Keyser, WV.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Carissa Oates, Jordan Oates, Jayden LaRue and Vincent Dyer, and thirteen nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 4 PM to 6PM.  A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016, with Rev. Wesley Beahm officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Boal Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
