Harold Joseph Doolan Jr., 82, of McMullen Highway, Rawlings, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his residence.

Born June 20, 1935 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Harold Joseph Doolan Sr. and Alice Virginia (Newlin) Doolan.  He was also preceded in death by and infant son, Baby Boy Doolan, and two brothers, Paul Richard and Timothy Allen Doolan.

Harold was a United States Naval Veteran, having served his country from 1955 to 1957.  He retired from Westvaco Corp, having worked in the sheet metal shop.  He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Keyser, WV. Harold was an avid wood carver and loved fishing with his wife.  He was a very special man.  After his retirement he had helped and gave so much of himself to others.  He went out of his way to help many veterans, family, friends and anyone in need.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Blubaugh) Doolan, five daughters, Sheila (Doolan) Lawson and husband Mike of Keyser, WV, Vickie Kay (Doolan) Fearon of Westernport, Kimberly (Doolan) Jones and husband James of Stephen City, VA, Jennifer Lynn (Doolan) Dorsey and husband Tom of Cresaptown, Kelly Doolan and boyfriend, Carlton Orndorff of Maurertown, VA, two sons, Christopher Joseph Doolan and wife Robin of Keyser, WV, and Timothy Allen Doolan at home.  He is also survived by a brother, James Luther Doolan and wife Janice of Westminster, fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

At Mr. Doolan’s request, he was cremated.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, on Saturday, July 15th at 11:00 AM with Father Edward Hendricks as celebrant.

A bereavement meal will be held at Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport, on Saturday, July 15th following the mass.

Inurnment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, with full military honors accorded by Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Allegany County Special Olympics.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Western Maryland Health System Hospice for the care and compassion given to Harold during his illness.
