Gordon Andrews Green Jr., 85 of Bloomington passed away on June 19, 2025 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born February 23, 1940 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Gordon and Margaret Green. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Elaine (Farrell) Green; his sister, Kay Ann (Green) Lannon; his in laws, Jim and Irene Farrell; and a special lifelong friend, Dick Rennie.

Gordon was a graduate of Valley High School Class of 1958, where he excelled in basketball as a 4 year member of the Varsity team, having won 2 State Championships. After graduating he was employed at the Celanese, then was hired at Westvaco, where he worked in the Power Center and as a Lead Man in Tour Maintenance. He retired in 2003 after 43 years of service. Gordon owned and operated from his basement, Savage River Sports Shop, where he sold anything from fishing lures to deer rifles. He could often be found in his sports room tying flies or reloading ammo. He was an active member in Tom’s Ridge Hunting Club, Tucker Ridge Hunting Club, Folley Run Hunting Club, Potomac Highland Hunting Club, and the Upper Potomac Rod and Gun Club. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of Keyser Moose Lodge #662. Catholic by faith, he was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Gordon spent his life helping others, he never turned down a work party and was usually the one planning one. He was an avid hunter, having harvested his last buck last fall. He loved to trout fish often showing up the younger boys on the streams. Gordon was a man of faith, a gentle giant, and a family man. He loved his family and was the rock that held them all together. In the summertime he could be found sitting on the porch at the river or enjoying a campfire with his boys and grandkids. A lover of music, he was a member of Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corp, Free States Man Drum and Bugle Corp, and the Esquires Drum and Bugle Corp. He and Elaine traveled all over the country yearly to the DCI Championships. Gordon passed on his love of some classic rock, to his boys and grandkids, teaching them all to play the air drums to the sounds of Queen, The Eagles, Abba, Pink Floyd, and Journey. Gordon was loved by everyone who met him, he will be missed beyond measure.

Gordon is survived by his three sons; David (Cindy), Eric (Monica), and Allan (Casey). His five grandchildren, who were the light of his life; Drew (Nicole), Shane (Alissa), Kaitlyn (Scott), Myrissa, and Allan. Nine great-grandchildren; Landyn, Sophia, Elaynah, Khaleesia, Samuel, Riley, Luke, Tristan, and Addison. A special brother in law, Bob Lannon, nephew, Bobby Lannon, and great nieces, Sydney and Ava Lannon. Gordon leaves behind many friends, fellow coworkers, hunting camp members, and fishing buddies, he touched so many lives it is impossible to list them all.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.

Inurnment will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Westernport.
