Geraldine Mayles

Westernport, MD

Geraldine “Gerry” W. Nesmith Mayles, 71, of Westernport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

Born May 8, 1941 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Leo M. Nesmith and Una M. Nesmith.

Mrs. Mayles attended Bloomington Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.  She was a volunteer at Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home where she enjoyed polishing the ladies finger nails, and a volunteer at the Westernport Senior Center doing the same.  She lived in Baltimore for 33 years, where she worked at the pathology lab at Mercy Hospital, and she also worked at various retailers.

“Gerry” was a 1959 graduate of Bruce High School.  She enjoyed working with the Alumni, where she filled in as Vice President of the Alumni, and went on to be President of Bruce High School Alumni.  She graduated from Catherman’s Business School.

She leaves behind her husband, William, one daughter, Vicki Douglas of Baltimore, two sisters, Louise Nealis and Sharon Tagliaferre, one brother, Leo M. Nesmith Jr., two grandchildren, Kelly Douglas and Alex Douglas, whom she loved dearly, four nieces, Lisa Nealis, Gina Peoples, Gale Lutton, and Lori Taylor.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.
