Freda (Fazenbaker) Durst, 89, formerly of Midland, passed away on February 9, 2014 at the Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on February 7, 1925 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Dye) Fazenbaker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Durst; son, Gary Lee Durst; sister Phyllis Fazenbaker; brother-in-law Melvin Fazenbaker, brother Frank “Buddy” Fazenbaker; and sister-in-law Martha Fazenbaker.
Mrs. Durst was Methodist by faith. She was a lifetime member of the Midland United Methodist Church. She was a 1943 graduate of Barton High School.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Durst and wife Lee Ann of Lonaconing; grandchildren, Teresa Durst and companion Tito, Michelle Durst and wife Liz, Tammy Durst and companion Keith Phillips, Wayne Durst Jr. and wife Patty, Tracy Jenkins and husband Josh, Terri Mullan and husband Jeremy, Stacey Durst and companion Brian, Norman McKenzie and fiancée Bobbie, Gary Russell Durst; nineteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Harry Fazenbaker and wife Jo of Gilmore, Glen Fazenbaker and wife Theresa of Michigan, daughter-in-law Jean Lynn Durst of Lonaconing and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 4:00 PM with Rev. George Loar officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Mrs. Durst’s family would especially like to thank the Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the Haven Unit and Dr. Sidhu for all of their care and compassion over the years.
