Evelyn Mae Trenum, 93 of Barton passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, surrounded by her family.
Born October 30, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Catherine (Gardner) Jones. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Sonny” Trenum; her brother, James G. Jones and his wife, Ruth; sister, Catherine Cook and husband, Gerald; mother and father-in-law, Howard and Jane (Kirk) Trenum; and sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Elzie Michaels.
Evelyn was a member of the Barton United Methodist Church. She was very active in the church, having been a Sunday school teacher for many years and also involved with the Friendly Helpers group. She was a life member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. Evelyn was also a Barton Hose Company Auxiliary member.
Evelyn enjoyed painting and sewing. She was a proud supporter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and could always be found cheering them on at their games or events. Evelyn devoted her life to her family, as the beloved matriarch, she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Mary Jane Dye and husband Herby, Amy Sue Patton and husband Tom, and Gary Joe Trenum and wife Annie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Megan Bittinger and husband Sid, Jennifer Patton, Derek Dye, Kaitlyn Jaycox and wife Meghan, Joshua Trenum, and Grace Trenum; her great grandchildren, Kaden Bittinger, Jaxon Bittinger and Trenum Jaycox; nephew Gerald Cook; nieces Kendra Mayfield and Juetta Gould; and many friends and neighbors.
Friends will be received at the Barton United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 5, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating.
Interment will be at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Barton.
Evelyn’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center for their exceptional care and kindness they provided to her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center Activities Fund in memory of Evelyn.
