Barton, MD

Evelyn Stacia George, 96, of Hyde Road, Barton, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.

Born March 12, 1918 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Carson and Freda (Frenzel) Hyde.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gay R. George, whom she married on July 21, 1947, a brother, Kenneth Hyde and a sister, Emily Hyde.

Evelyn was a retired hair stylist, having owned and operated Evelyn’s Beauty Salon since her opening the shop in September 1939.  She was an active member of Barton United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of the Barton Alumni Association.

She leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday, December 1st from 12 to 2 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Chapel following the visitation on Monday at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
