Eugene Cleveland Bishop, 81, of Charles Town, formerly of Keyser, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Jefferson Medical Center, Ranson, WV.

Born October 1, 1934 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Howard Bishop and Virginia (Butler) Bishop.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Mae (Shugars) Bishop, a grandson, Eddie Bishop, a son-in-law, Raymond Lewis and two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Bishop was a retired coal miner having worked for Consol Mining.  He was a member of Allegany Baptist Church, McCoole.  Eugene was an avid hunter and he also enjoyed gardening, bluegrass music and spending time with his family.

He leaves behind two sons, Howard Bishop of Keyser, Phillip Bishop and wife Sue of Keyser, three daughters, Carol Lewis of Bunker Hill, Gail Harris and husband Ted of Keyser, and Debra Long and husband Carl of Martinsburg.  He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Ellifritz of Fayetteville, NC, Maedean Winters and husband Calvin of Romeo, MI, eleven grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, on Friday, September 30th from noon to 2 PM.  A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation on Friday at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Walter Lancaster officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
