Ernest “Ernie” Stewart, Jr., 83 of Piedmont passed away on May 21, 2022 at his residence.

Born January 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Ernest Stewart, Sr. and Mary (Kent) Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Coleman) Stewart; a sister, Rosie Parker; and a grandson, Brandon Coleman.

Ernie was a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Ernie also loved feeding and watching the birds that visited his yard. Lovingly known as “Skern” to his family, he had a great sense of humor and always kept everyone laughing. Skern’s family is grateful for the lifetime of laughs they’ve been blessed with.

Ernie is survived by his children, Anita Hines, Denise Stewart, Gregory Stewart, Rodney Menefee and wife Susan, Rhonda Menefee, Timothy Stewart, Joi Watts and husband Martin; and his siblings, Leroy Stewart and wife Jean and family, Margie Hill and husband Jay and family, Elwood Stewart and wife Traudie and family, Joann Harper and husband Wayne and family, and the family of sister Rosie Parker. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Damien “Thumper” Stewart, Jadon “Buckster” Hoover, Mikayla “Caledonia” Watts, Myleigh “Funny Face” Anderson, Cameron “Tank” Stewart, Mariah “Ri” Stewart, Kayla Watts, Kaden Watts, Khloe Watts, Shannon Bell, Chasity Richardson, Lindsey Hines, Langston Hines, Seth Coleman, Antinise Stewart, Denesha Stewart, Gregory Stewart, Jr., Robert Stewart, Robin Stewart, Myia Stewart, Cory Menefee, Jeydy Menefee, Glorious Menefee, Christina Menefee, Brandon Menefee, Tiffany Hutchinson, Richard Johnson, Jr., Traia Menefee, Tysean Johnson; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ernie is survived by numerous Coleman siblings, an “adopted” daughter, Kristine Neff and several special friends.

In accordance with his wishes, Ernie will be cremated.

Family and friends will gather at the Immanuel Church in Piedmont on Friday, June 3rd from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Kady officiating.

Ernie’s family kindly requests that everyone in attendance wear masks and social distance.

Mr. Stewart is in the care of Boal Funeral Home.
