E. Richard “Dick” Fazenbaker Sr., 87, of West Fairview St, Piedmont, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born October 14, 1929 in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Kemp and Leota (Keplinger) Fazenbaker.  He was also preceded in death by a son Richard Fazenbaker Jr.

Mr. Fazenbaker was a 1947 graduate of Bruce High School.  He was a United States Naval Veteran, having served during World War II.  “Dick” retired from Westvaco Corp. with 42 years of service, having been a machine tender.  He was a lifetime member of Kelly Mansfield American Legion #52, Piedmont.  During his earlier years “Dick” played trumpet with the Blue Angel Drum and Bugle Corp.  He loved to reminisce about the olden days, and he was very handy around his well-kept home doing all kinds of projects and tinkering.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Wilda (Biggs) Fazenbaker, a daughter, Betty Jo Fazenbaker and companion, Paul Johnston of Piedmont, and a sister, Margaret Ann “Sissy” Folk and family of Martinsburg.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Robert and Joy Biggs and family, Dorothy Barnard and family, and Jane Biggs and family.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, on Wednesday, January 4th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 5th at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Steve Grimes officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, MD.
