Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Symons, joined her husband, Elwood “Woody” Symons in God’s eternal home on June 9, 2015.  She was preceded in death by her husband on May 15, 2014.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Richard LaRue and Josephine (Abernathy) LaRue, a grandson, Christopher Strong, and a sister, Lois Ann (LaRue) Thompson.

She leaves behind her daughters, Deborah Strong and husband Dick and Victoria (Burt) Symons.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Mischelle Malone and husband Todd Malone, Teresa Cook and husband Kenneth Cook, and Nathan Symons and wife Dr. Jenna Symons, great grandchildren, Cody and Tyler Malone, and Hallie Cook.

“Libby” retired after many years of service from WEPCO Federal Credit Union as a loan officer after 28 years of service.  She made many friends through WEPCO.  She had bowled in both the Monday night women’s bowling league and with her husband in the Thursday night mixed league.  She was an avid bingo player.  “Libby” was a member of the Barton United Methodist Church, and a member of the Barton American Legion #189 Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a 1949 graduate of Bruce High School.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday from 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Barton United Methodist Church on Friday at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Sandy Cowan and Rev. Gary Morris officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Barton United Methodist Church or Barton American Legion #189.
