Edison Coleman Broadwater, 95, of Mill Run Road, Westernport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

Born August 31, 1917 in Garrett County, he was the son of the late Ephraim Broadwater and Ida Louise (Rounds) Broadwater. Edison was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lillie M. (Broadwater) Broadwater. He was also the last surviving member of his immediate family, and is preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers: Mary Broadwater, Lucinda “Lucy” Green Clark, William Broadwater, Wheeler Broadwater, Harry Broadwater, Darius “Red” Broadwater, and Marshall Broadwater.

He is survived by sons, Galen Broadwater and wife Diane of Barton; E. Darrell Broadwater and wife Carolyn of Westernport; and a daughter, Darlene Scott and husband Brett of Cumberland; granddaughters, Linda Edwards and husband David of Westernport, Lorri Broadwater of Westernport, grandson Michael Broadwater and wife Vicky of Arnold; and great grandchildren, Andy Edwards and wife Stephanie of Westernport, Greg Edwards and Thomas Broadwater.

Edison was raised in Dunkard Brethren Broadwater Chapel, Savage River Road, Garrett County. He later attended the Mill Run Grace Brethren Church in Westernport.

He was a farmer, coal miner, and janitor by trade. He was a WWII Veteran serving three plus years in England, France, Holland and Germany as a member of the 739th Tank Battalion with Armored Command and Sharpshooter Training. He was honorably discharged receiving the European Theater of Operations Ribbon with two Battle Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He also received the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Friday, April 5th from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 6th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Raymond Sterling.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
