Dr. R. Neil Williams, 86, of McKinley St, Westernport, passed away on December 3, 2012, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.

Born August 3, 1926 in Wood, PA, he was the son of the late Matthew and Dorothy (Kroll) Williams.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Maryland Reed, and a great grandson, Jeremiah Liller.

Dr. Williams was a United States Naval Veteran, having served during World War II.  He was a retired Doctor of Chiropractic, having 56 years of service in the Westernport area.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Westernport, a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, a member of Hiram Lodge #103 AF & AM, and a member of Ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland.  He was also a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the Maryland Chiropractic Association, having been the Vice President, President and board member of the Maryland Association.  He served on the Allegany County Board of Education for several years, and was a member of the Upper Potomac River Commission, where he had served as treasurer.  He also served on the Westernport Town Council and was a member of the Westernport Zoning Board.  Dr. Williams always fancied himself a farmer, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He leaves behind his wife, Wilma (Winters) Williams, two sons, Rev. Earl Williams and wife Geri of New Creek, WV, Dr. Ronel Williams and wife Sally of Swanton, one daughter, Laurie Keplinger and husband, Clifford “Gene” of Elk Garden, WV, his former wife and mother of his children, May Williams of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, two brothers, William E. Williams of Frostburg and Dr. Lowell Williams and wife Pat of Moorefield, WV.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Daniel Williams, Marie Liller, Sarah Kalbaugh, Matthew Williams, Adam Keplinger, Angela Lewis, and Andrew Keplinger, four great grandchildren, Brandon Liller, Michala Liller, Audrey Williams, and Isaac Kalbaugh.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Eric Durden officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church New Building Fund, Westernport.
