Dorothy "Dot" Shaw

Dorothy “Dot” Marie Shaw, 85 of Barton, MD went home to be with her Lord on December 26, 2019, 35 years to the date that her Mother passed away.

Born in Barton on March 13, 1934.  She was the daughter of the late Roy Harrison Howell and Grace Helen (Michaels) Howell.  She is also preceded in death by husband James E. Shaw and by an infant son James E. Shaw Jr.

Dot was a 1952 graduate of Barton High School.  She was a lifelong member of The First Presbyterian Church of Barton and enjoyed being active in her Church.  She taught Sunday School for over 50 years.  She loved cooking and baking for family and friends.  Even as age-related illnesses weakened her body and mind, she remained strong in spirit showing a smile to everyone.  She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed.

She is survived by sisters Helen “Jeanie” Metz and husband Charles and Violet Conca and husband Ed.  She is also survived by sons, Ed Shaw and wife Susan, Bob Shaw and wife Donita, and Bryan Shaw and wife Sherry. She is survived by grandchildren; Betsy Sears and husband James, Sallie Johnson and husband Mark, Bethany Sechler and husband Tyler, Justin Shaw, Bryan Shaw Jr. and wife Freya, and Christina Glenn.   Dot is survived by seven great grandchildren; Harrison Sears, Katherine Johnson, Claire Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Landon Sechler, Zaryd Shaw and Coen Glenn.

Friends and family will be received at the First Presbyterian Church of Barton on Saturday, December 28th from 12 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Morgan officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
