   Dorothy Jean "Dot" (Cowatch) Taylor of Likens Street, Westernport passed away on January 7, 2024.

    Born on January 25, 1941, on B Street, Keyser, WV. She was the twin daughter of the late Michael & Mable (Fraley) Cowatch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael "Mickey" Cowatch and her son James Russell Taylor.      
   Dot was a 1959 graduate of St. Peter’s High School. She was the proud mother of three wonderful children, Annette, Jeannie and Jimmy. Dot was an avid camper who loved cooking for her family, traveling, and going to the Beryl reunion each year to spend time with old friends, especially Leon Marple and wife Jeannie.
      Dot started working when she was 13 as a waitress in the Tea Room in Westernport. Through the years she worked at Potomac Valley Hospital as a nurse's aid, Head Start teaching children to read at St. Peters School, Acme Grocery Stores for over 10 years in Westernport, Keyser, and Cumberland, and Linda’s Hallmark store for 20 Years. She also collected for the cancer fund for many years and was presented with an award for years of dedicated service. Dot was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 155 Westernport and President of St. Peter’s Alumni for 29 years. In addition, she spent a great deal of time collecting St. Peter’s information and memorabilia to display in the St. Peter’s Alumni room. Most of all she was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a caregiver, and a true friend to many.
     Surviving are her husband of 62 years James "Jim" Taylor and her two daughters, Annette Clark and husband Joe of Cresaptown and Jeannie Cady of Westernport. Dot is also survived by six grandchildren, Sandi Rumer (Tom), Chris Rumer (Bruna), Mandy Hewlin, Randy Cubbage (Kassidi), Brianna and Alyssa Taylor, 10 great grandchildren Josie & Ellison Keeling, Oliver and Maria Rumer, Calob, Skylee, and Kyle Hewlin, Mia and Emma Smith, and Kingston Weevie, her sisters Delores Jones (twin) and Carol Clark, a brother Joey Cowatch, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she is survived by her special friends, neighbor Mark Rumer, Patsy Kenealy, Sharon Ross, and the alumni association members.
      Dot loved her family and friends with her whole heart and was dedicated to helping anyone in the community who needed it. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
    Please join us to honor Dot and the life she lived on Thursday, January 11th at the Boal Funeral Home, 111 Church Street Westernport from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a brief prayer service at 4:00 p.m.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 12th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church -Divine Mercy Parish, 127 Church Street, Westernport with Father Scott Kady as celebrant.

    Entombment will be at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.
