Dorothy Harvey

Dorothy Lee Mary Harvey, 92 of Westernport passed away on September 14, 2016.

Born May 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah (Trenum) Keyes. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John C. “Connie” Harvey Sr; her siblings, Alfred Keyes, Donnie Keyes, Gene Keyes, Mary Katherine Ashenfelter, Bernadette McGoye; and an infant great grandson Gavin Harvey.

Dorothy attended Piedmont High School. Dorothy raised her four sons with her husband “Connie”. While raising her family, she worked to help her husband through college. She worked at the Cut-Rate Soda Fountain in Piedmont, VW. She was a volunteer at St. Peter’s School. Dorothy and her husband taught Red Cross swimming for nearly two decades at the Piedmont and Westernport swimming pools. She was a Red Cross volunteer and a multiple recipient of the Florence Nightingale award.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, John C. Harvey Jr. of Cumberland, Patrick Harvey of Westernport, Richard Harvey of Cumberland and Robert Harvey and his wife Jackie of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mike Harvey and his wife Beth, Sarah Harvey, Sadie Harvey, John Michael Harvey, Joseph Harvey, Seamus Harvey, Daniel Harvey, Liam Harvey;  her great grandsons, Bryson Harvey and Graham Harvey; and a sister Charlotte Grab.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, September 16th, 2016 from 6 pm to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport on Saturday, September 17th, 2016 at 12 noon with Father Edward Hendricks as Celebrant. There will also be a visitation prior to the Mass at the funeral home from 9 am to 12 noon.

Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the local Red Cross, the Salvation Army or Divine Mercy Parish.
