Dorothy Foutz

May 30, 1931 — July 9, 2024

Westernport, Maryland

Dorothy (Dottie) Foutz passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on July 9th, 2024.

She was born in Barton, MD to Stanley Marcus Fazenbaker and Ethel Jane (Custer) Fazenbaker.

She spent all of her 93 years in the beautiful mountains of Western Maryland, never straying far from her roots. She was predeceased by her husband James (Jimmy) Foutz, her parents, Stanley and Ethel, and two brothers James Oliver Fazenbaker and Stanley William (Bill) Fazenbaker.

Dottie is survived by her son James (Jim) William Foutz, three beloved grandchildren Sara Susan Foutz, James (Jimmy) William Foutz and wife Breanna and Christopher Robert Foutz, five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jackson, Julia, Josie and Jacie Foutz, special sister-in-law Brenda Fazenbaker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dottie graduated from Barton High School in 1949. She met her beloved Jimmy in elementary school, where their friendship turned into an eternal love years later. They were married in 1951 and had a wonderful life together, full of many laughs and adventures, until Jimmy’s unexpected passing in 1992. Dottie retired from Westvaco with more than 40 years of service in the quality assurance department. She absolutely loved her career at Westvaco and would talk about the joys of her work often.

Dottie loved and adored her family and friends more than any words are able to articulate. They are who and what she lived for. She found much joy and love in music, hummingbirds, gardening, dancing, painting, yard sales, parks and ponds.

In accordance with Dottie’s wishes, no services will take place.

We would like to thank everyone with UPMC At Home for their efforts and care.

In memory of Dottie, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. She was a simple woman, with the strength of no other and will be endlessly missed by all that love her. Forever in our hearts, until we meet again.

“I've lived a life that’s full. I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more than this, I did it my way.” -“My Way” by Frank Sinatra
