Dorothy Biggs

Dorothy (Kalbaugh) Biggs, 98, of Westernport passed away on March 25, 2023.

Born December 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Bertha (Poland) Kalbaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Biggs  Sr.; grandsons, David Brown and Austin Crotts; son-in-law, Stephan Dollinger; and many siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Bruce High School and later received an associate’s degree from Potomac State College. She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was also a lifetime member of the choir. Dorothy was a Past President of the Wesleyan Service Guild, a member of the Messengers, the Colonial Dames and the DAR. Dorothy was the chairman of the Westernport Bi-Centennial committee.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, Bible study and playing the piano. She showed much interest in genealogy, as well as touring historic homes.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Jeanne Dollinger of Frostburg, Mary (Charles) Peterson of Montgomery, TX, Harry (Angela) Biggs of Oakland and Dott (Joe) Whelan of Keyser, WV; and sister-in-law, Verna Biggs of Severna Park. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Dollinger, Chuck (Nancy) Peterson, Jennifer (Clayton) Benedict, Melanie (David) Carroll, Sharon (Randy) Richards, Michelle (Steve) Barron, Chelle (Tom) Crotts, Marci (JC) Whitehair, Meredith (Maria-Ines Carrera) Whelan, Joe (Lindsay) Whelan III; twenty-one great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends and caretakers, Bob Pence and Teri Price.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Thursday, March 30th from 1 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
