Doris Metz

Barton, MD

Doris Elaine Metz, 77, of Barton passed away on June 11, 2018 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Born September 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Ethel (Michaels) Kyle. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Alvin, Kenneth, Wayne and Raymond Kyle, and her sisters, Betty Miller, Anna Grove and Lois MacDonald.

Doris is survived by her husband of 59 years, Paul E. Metz of Barton; and her sons, Steven Metz and his wife, Julie of Lucketts, VA, and Jeffery Metz and his wife, Jamie of Frostburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Paul Metz, Andrew James Metz, Lexie Metz, Joshua Metz; her siblings, Roy Kyle, Marie Skidmore, James Kyle; special niece, Vickie Miller and her best friend, Kay Hobel.

Doris was a homemaker who did everything she could do to take care of her family.  She spent her spare time watching her kids play sports and working the concession stand many times. She enjoyed taking trips to Ocean City during the summer. Later in life, Doris and her husband served as Camp Host at New Germany State Park for many years. Doris also particularly enjoyed going to Westernport almost every day with her friend Kay and sister Marie to have lunch. She never missed a chance to take care of her grandchildren and loved spoiling them by taking them to get something at the Dollar Store.

Doris was a member of the Barton United Methodist Church since 1960.  She attended Bethel Holiness Church for over 12 years before her health deteriorated.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 12 noon to 1:00 pm at the Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm with the Rev. George Loar officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
