Donald Edward Miller, 94, of Midland, died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on November 12, 1924 in Lonaconing. He was the son of the late John D. Miller and Winona (Koontz) Miller.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (McDonald) Miller and sister Betty Colmer Dye.
He is survived by his three children, H. Lynn Clise and husband John, Frostburg, William R. Miller and wife Darlene, Mechanicsville, VA, and Winnie Thomas and husband, Eric, Barton; four grandchildren, Jason Clise, Rebecca Miller, Matthew Thomas and Evan Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Joel Clise, Mackenzie Miller-Street and Hanna Miller-Street; sister Lois Green and brother Jack Miller both of Hagerstown and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a United States Army World War II Veteran of the AAA (Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic) Weapons Battalion and proudly served and loved his country. He earned 4 battle stars with one being for The Battle of the Bulge.
He retired from PPG. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #189 and Georges Creek Valley Lodge #161.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Sunday, February 10th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. The Barton American Legion Post #189 will honor Mr. Miller on Sunday evening at 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 11, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Heerak Kim officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery with military graveside honors accorded by the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion Honor Guard and the Barton American Legion Post #189.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Midland, Maryland 21532 or a charity of your choice.
