Dennis “Denny” Leslie Wolfe, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 2, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was 74.
Born in Keyser, WV, on November 7, 1950, Denny was the son of Charles “Ducky” Wolfe and Mildred “Midge” Barr Folk. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Glenn Folk and a stepsister, Donna Jean Walker. He is survived by his stepsister, Lori Lee Bowers of American Falls, Idaho.
Denny graduated from Bruce High School with the Class of 1969. Throughout his life, he held several professions. He first worked as a mechanic at Morton Chevrolet in Frostburg, later joined the Service Department at Celanese in Cumberland, and ultimately dedicated 32 years to Westvaco Pulp and Paper Mill, Luke, where “Wolfecat“ performed a variety of roles prior to retiring. Denny was also a proud member of the Bloomington Volunteer Fire Department.
On July 31, 1976, Denny married Sharon Kay Broadwater, and together they shared 49 years. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their children: Dennis Leslie Wolfe II and Tracey Lynn Wolfe, both of Bloomington, and Crystal Dawn (Mike) Whetstone of Westernport. Denny’s beloved grandchildren ̶ Blake, Bryson, Matthew, Skyler, Jacob, and Isabella ̶ brought immense joy to his life. Also left to cherish his memory are his aunt and uncle, and his mother-in-law, Norma Lee Broadwater, (who loved Denny like a son), and many extended family members and friends who will sorely miss him.
Denny had a lifelong love for the outdoors. He was an avid gardener who proudly tended two gardens ̶ one at home in Bloomington and another “in the country.” He enjoyed canning the fruits of his labor and was especially known for his homemade spaghetti sauce, a family favorite he continued to make, with help, even this past year.
An enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, Denny treasured time at their cabin in Garrett County, where he shared his love of nature with his children and grandchildren. He found joy in boating on Deep Creek Lake, and simply soaking in the beauty of the great outdoors.
As a motorsports enthusiast, Denny rarely missed a NASCAR race ̶ especially when his favorite driver, #24 Jeff Gordon, was on the track. He made many family memories on trips to the Dover International Speedway and loved attending dirt track races in Bedford, PA ̶ including one just two weeks before his passing.
Over the years, Denny shared his life with many beloved dogs ̶ from his early Dalmatians to his later gentle giants, the Newfoundlands.
Above all, Denny loved his family. Whether working alongside, or simply spending time with them, he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved most.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical personnel at Garrett County Home Health, Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser and Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, for the compassionate care given to Denny and his family in his final days.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday, October 7, from 2:00‒4:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 4:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon Harold Bradley. A reception will follow at the Bloomington Fire Hall, provided by First Assembly of God Church in Westernport, where Denny attended services. In accordance with his wishes, Denny will be cremated following the funeral service.
“Lovingly remembered by all who knew him.”
