David Lee Miller Sr., 86 of Barton, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.

Born September 5, 1930 in Barton, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Della (O’Neil) Miller.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Calvin, Jim, Raymond and Norman “Toby”, sister, Shirley Bosley and his twin sister, Mary Catherine Miller.  He was the last survivor of his immediate family.

Dave attended Barton School.  He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War.  He was a retired machinist, having worked for Beckner Company and he also worked at his own machine shop in Barton, Millers Machine Shop.  Dave attended Barton Presbyterian Church for 60 plus years.  He was a 60 year member of Barton Hose Company, and a member of Barton American Legion #189.

Our family lost one of the sweetest men we knew.  He was such a gentle soul, and a wonderful husband, father and pappa.  He loved his wife and his family, putting their needs before his own.  He fought the good fight and finished his race.  He will be missed.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Wilma (House) Miller, his children, David Miller Jr., and wife Kathy of LaVale, Scott Miller and wife Lilian of Grantsville, and Julie Bishop of Keyser, WV.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marcie Foutz (Brandon) of Martinsburg, WV, Shannon Miller (Jaffa) of Charleston, SC, Aaron Miller (Shannon) of Cumberland Darren Bishop of Keyser, WV, great grandchildren, Erin, Elliott, Josiah, Sophia, Nathan and Morgan.

At Dave’s request, he was cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted at Barton Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the church one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Barton Presbyterian Church or the Barton Hose Company.

Boal Funeral Home, Barton, have been entrusted with the arrangements.
