David Ray Hanlin, Sr.

David Ray Hanlin, Sr., 58 of Piedmont passed away on January 16, 2024, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born December 6, 1964, he was the son of the late David T. and Audrey (Smith) Hanlin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hanlin; and sister, Nicole Hanlin. 

David loved spending times in the outdoors fishing and camping. Years ago he would enjoy weekends with the guys going to concerts. He was the life of the party, always entertaining and joking with others. He enjoyed traveling, going places and seeing things. David would spend many hours sitting on his porch, and as he would say, working on his tan. David was a loving husband, Dad, Pap and brother. He will be sadly missed. 

David is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Patti (Gattens) Hanlin; his children, Timothy A. Hanlin of Bluefield, David R. “DJ” Hanlin, Jr. of Piedmont, Patrick W. Hanlin of Piedmont, and Ryan T. Hanlin of Piedmont. He is also survived by his sister, Pam Hartman and husband Jim of Piedmont; his grandchildren, Brayden, Maddilynn, Carlyn, and Owen; his nephews and nieces, Cory Smith, Robert Paugh, Ashley Paugh, Gabrielle Hanlin; great nephew, Gabriel and great niece, Addyson; and numerous cousins, extended family and many friends. 

A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at the Piedmont American Legion on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
