Charles Shugars, Sr.

Charles Shugars, Sr., 86 of Stoney Run, Westernport, passed away on October 13, 2026.

Born December 18, 1939, he was the son of the late George and Carrie (Bowman) Shugars. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Shugars; a granddaughter, Emily Shugars; and several siblings.

Charles is survived by his sons, Charles Shugars, Jr. and Ernest Shugars, Sr.; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous siblings.

Charles was a member of Stoney Run Baptist Church. A hardworking man from a very young age, he spent his life providing for his family and helping others. He was last employed with Allegany Aggregates, where he worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, retiring at the age of 81. In addition to his regular work, Charles hauled coal and gravel for countless people throughout the area.

Charles was loved by everyone who knew him. He was always taking care of others, especially his family. He loved his wife Betty dearly, and his love and devotion to his family was evident. “Pap” was someone everyone could count on, his presence will be deeply missed.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, October 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Cabin Run Cemetery, Keyser.
