Anthony “Tony” Mazzone, 92 of Westernport, passed away on January 12, 2015, at Allegany Rehab and Nursing Home.

Born on November 24, 1922, he was the son of the late Panteleo and Maria Mazzone. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Raphel Mazzone and sister Isabelle Cangianelli.

Tony was a WWII Veteran of the US Air Force. He was retired from Westvaco Corp. after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Westernport. Tony was an avid baseball fan, and expressed his love of baseball by helping expand the Tri-Towns Little League from four to eight teams, so more children were able to play. He was a manager of the Bi-State Pony League in Westernport for 18 years with 14 Championships. Tony managed the Westernport American Legion team from 1965 to 1966. He coached Westernport Pen Mar league and the Westernport Twilight league from 1964-1966. He helped develop a baseball program for St. Peter’s High School and managed them for two years. He devoted 44 years of his life to serving the youth of the community, and was honored for it. Tony made all his family’s dreams come true.

Tony is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary “Maxine” (Mongold) Mazzone of Westernport; his son, Leo David Mazzone and wife Rebecca of Anderson, SC; his daughter, Mary Frances Mazzone Fisher and husband Michael of Ridgeley, WV. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Anthony David Mazzone and wife Samantha of Grantsville, Myka Fisher Sidow and husband Robert Andrew of Inwood, WV, Christopher Mazzone of Kennesaw, GA, Natalie Fisher and Tyler Bennett of Bel-Air, and Nicholas Mazzone and Terra Bell of LaVale. Tony is survived by four great grandchildren, Robert Nathaniel and Gracie Maria Sidow of Inwood, WV, Paige Grayson, and Brooke Elizabeth Mazzone of Grantsville; and his sisters, Julia Codire of Piedmont, WV, Nina Warnick of Luke and Mary Wilcox of LaVale; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Thursday from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, Westernport with Father Gregory Brown as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Westernport.
